All children 16yrs and younger, and DVA Gold Card Holders are bulk billed by all doctors.

Some of our doctors bulk bill over 65yrs olds. (Please make sure you only see these doctors if you wish to be bulk billed.)

We also offer a range of health care checks that are bulk billed including 45 -49 yr old health check. Yearly 75 and over Health Check and also Care Plans for those who suffer from a Chronic Disease or Condition that qualifies you to receive some Allied Health visits that will have a medicare refund attached to the service.

All other services attract a fee.
We offer to process your medicare claim on site using out EFTPOS machine or online lodging. All consultations at Sunstate Family Practice incur the same out of pocket expense.

Yes we have 3 full time male doctors & 3 full time female doctors and well as 2 part-time female doctors.

Yes we perform thousands of skin checks every year! Yearly skin checks are essential as Queensland has one of the highest skin cancer rates in the world! Sunstate family practice uses the latest dermatology technology, which allows the doctors to see, store and compare images of any moles or lesions at high resolution and magnification over time. Total Body Photography IS COMING to Sunstate Family Practice in March 2020! The latest dermatology technology uses AI (artificial intelligence) to improve diagnostic accuracy. Ask our reception staff for more information.

Yes we do. Due to reduction in the government Medicare funding for telehealth we must now charge a fee for all Telephone consultations. (Medicare rebate applies). At Sunstate our doctors prefer to see you in person but understand that it is sometimes hard to make it in in person. Please book through our website or HotDoc app. Occasionally our doctors may initiate a phone call to you, there will be no out of pocket expense to you.

We value your privacy and rights and have safeguards to ensure that your medical record is only accessible to authorised staff. We abide by the 13 Australian National Privacy Principles. A copy of our privacy policy is available at reception and here. The National Privacy Commissioner is able to receive complaints concerning privacy issues on 1300 363 992 or oaic.gov.au/privacy/privacy-complaints.

An appointment should be made to discuss results unless your doctor has directed you otherwise.

Sunstate Family Practice is a private billing practice but our Tyro facility enables your Medicare rebate to be immediately processed. Fees are determined by the length of consultation and procedure performed however the gap on consultations is the same even if a longer appointment is required.  Children Under 16 years and DVA gold card holders are bulk billed. Some doctors also bulk bill patients Over 65 years. Our Current Schedule of Fees is based on the AMA fee structure and is available at reception and here.  

It is best practice for us to see you both for ongoing referral and repeat scripts. A collect service is available in some circumstances provided the medication has been previously prescribed in an appropriate timeframe and if the referral is to the same provider for the same condition and the request is within an appropriate timeframe. A $22 fee applies for this service.

Yes, we will ask who your usual doctor is when you book an appointment. We have increased the number of appointments available with the doctor of your choice on the day.

Book in advance for routine matters and chronic disease management to find a day and time that is convenient for you.

For unwell matters, please phone the surgery to be triaged on the day if there is no appointment availability online. On occasions, your usual doctor may be unavailable, and depending on the urgency of the matter, you may be offered an appointment with an alternative doctor.
