Sunstate Family Practice is a private billing practice however, your Medicare rebate can be immediately processed via our Tyro payment facility. Fees are determined by the length of consultation and procedure performed and the gap on consultations varies depending on these factors. Children Under 16 years, DVA gold card holders and DVA white card holders are bulk billed for eligible conditions. Some chronic disease and preventative health items are bulk billed. Pension Concession Card holders over 65 years of age are eligible for a reduced gap fee. Our Current Schedule of Fees is based on the AMA fee structure and is available at reception.

We bulk bill all Children aged Under 16yrs, DVA Gold Card holders and DVA White Card holders for eligible conditions. Pension Concession Card holders Over 65 years of age, pay a discounted gap fee of $25 for consultations only.  Usual fees apply to extras including procedures. We offer a range of health care checks that are bulk billed under our Annual Healthcare Cycle Programme including: Care plans, Health assessments, Home Medication Reviews, Heart Health Assessments, Childhood and Adult immunisations. All other services attract a fee.  Please refer to our current Schedule of Fees. Your Medicare claim may be processed by our receptionist via our Tyro facility – your rebate is instant!
Yes, we have 3 full time male doctors, 1 part-time male doctor & 5 full time female doctors.

Yes. We perform thousands of skin checks every year! Yearly skin checks are essential as Queensland has one of the highest skin cancer rates in the world! Sunstate family practice uses the latest dermatology technology, which allows the doctors to see, store and compare images of any moles or lesions at high resolution and magnification over time. Total Body Photography IS COMING to Sunstate Family Practice! The latest dermatology technology uses AI (artificial intelligence) to improve diagnostic accuracy. Ask our reception staff for more information.  Our doctors perform excision of confirmed or suspected lesions in our procedure room on site.

Yes. We charge a fee for Telehealth consultations (Medicare rebate currently applies provided you have been seen in person by a doctor at our practice in the past 12 months). At Sunstate, our doctors prefer to see you in person but understand that sometimes it is appropriate and more convenient for you to take advantage of a telehealth consultation. Please book via our website or HotDoc app.

We value your privacy and rights and have safeguards to ensure that your medical record is only accessible to authorised staff. We abide by the 13 Australian National Privacy Principles. A copy of our privacy policy is available at reception and here. The National Privacy Commissioner is able to receive complaints concerning privacy issues on 1300 363 992 or oaic.gov.au/privacy/privacy-complaints.

An appointment should be made to discuss results unless your doctor has directed you otherwise.  However, on occasion, you may receive a call initiated by the Doctor to briefly discuss a result.  If this occurs, you will be bulk billed.

No, if only it were that simple!  It is best practice for the doctor to see you for ongoing referral and repeat scripts. Telehealth is available and may be clinically appropriate in some cases for this appointment type.

Yes.  We will ask who your usual doctor is when you book an appointment. We have increased the number of appointments available with the doctor of your choice on the day.

Book in advance for routine matters and chronic disease management to find a day and time that is convenient for you.

For unwell matters, please phone the surgery to be triaged on the day if there is no appointment availability online. On occasions, your usual doctor may be unavailable, and depending on the urgency of the matter, you may be offered an appointment with an alternative doctor.
